Monday: well today started off with a member in the branch inviting us
to breakfast at some retrausnt which was great they had really good
hamburgers for breakfast so that was awesome! Then we went back to the
piso after we bought some food for this week which was great then it
was on to cleaning the piso. After the piso was cleaned then it was
over to the same restaurant with the same member that took us to
breakfast asked us if we could join her for lunch so we agreed. Then
my comp and mission leader practiced the guitar together while I
emailed! So that was great. Then we had a noche de hogar with the branch
presidents family where we talked about the example of captain Moroni
and how if we are like unto Moroni the powers of Satan can have no
power over us. Then we had pancakes Nutella and cool-whip for dessert
which was the best! Then it was back to the piso for the night.
Tuesday: well today started off with going to pass by some memos
activists and members. So as we went and passed by this part member
family or this family that lives in the same house as a member that we
teach when they are there. So one of them let us in and then we ran
into the rest of the family going down the stairs and they invited us
to come over and eat and share a message but they don't know what day
they can do it on. So hope we can work something out for this week.
Then we had correlation with the branch mission leader and then a
noche de hogar with him and his wife and mother in law so that was good
we gave a great lesson about the Atonement setting us free from the
weight of the world. Then we had some pizza that stefferson made and
then had to head home for the night.
Wednesday: well today we had to catch the 12:30 bus over to Madrid
which is two hours in the bus for our intercambios with the district
leader and his comp. so I went with our district leader and started
passing by addresses which was good got a couple lessons set up. Then
it was back to their piso for lunch. After lunch it was off to a
lesson with a part member family where we talked about the importance
of reading praying and attending church then had the same lesson with
a less active family. Then back to pass bys where we met this guy from
Ecuador who let us in when we were looking for his sister so that was
cool we gave him the first lesson and he invited us back! Then we went
to help the hermanas and some members organize clothes and get it
ready to send to a small pueblo so that was cool. Then played some uno
after nightly planing.
Thursday: well today we had a big zone training so that was great. In
the training we focused on the principals from the world wide
missionary training back in January so that was great we started by
talking about having the faith to find and how to gain more faith to
find. Then about how we can get references from less activists and
recent converts. Then we focused on making compromisos so that was
good. Then we finished up by talking about the importance the holy
ghost plays in the lessons when we teach as missionaries that we can only
bring our words of the savior unto our investigators and the people
that we teach and that the Holy Ghost is the only one that can take it
into someone's heart. Then another two hour bus ride back to Cuenca
then we went to piso to drop our intercambios bags off and then went
through the area book then went out and contacted for a while.
Friday: it was raining all day today so just about no one was
out walking around. We were suppose to have a meeting with a man name
Sergio but he said he couldn't meet because of the rain. But he gave
me his back story that he had all typed up on a piece of paper so that
was interesting then it was back to the piso to do weekly planing
which was good. Then it was on to lunch which was nice to have some
time to sit down and just relax for a little bit then later we had a
lesson with Eric and his family which was good watched a video about
the strength of hope which he said that new aches every time he is
having a hard day. Then back to the piso for the night.
Saturday: well today was a pretty good day started off by working out
more then usual to get rid of the tiny gut I have now haha just
kidding still don't have a gut thanks to morning exercise! Then it was
on to contacting we got a couple people to say that they would come to
English class wich was good. Then we had lunch with a member which was
really good we had some deer and rice so that was super good haven't
had deer in forever. Then her non member grandson and a few memos
activists where there so we were able to talk about Christ and his
atonement with them which was really cool. Then we went to give someone
a blessing whose back was bothering her and then to finish the day we
went to the hospital to visit a lady who just had her leg amputated so
we just talked about the resurrection and about the atonement of
Christ which I think really helped her with what she's going through.
Sunday: well today at church some of the stake leaders came which was
cool first one of the three youth that we have here in our branch. He
gave a great talk on the importance of receiving keeping the
commandments. Then one of the sisters in the ward gave a talk on
receiving revelation which was really awesome then the stake leader
gave a talk on the law of chastity which was great this is one of the
most important commandments that we must learn teach our children
about and follow completely there is no such thing as bending rules
especially in today's time in the world! Well after church got to
skype the fam which was a huge highlight of the week. Once again happy
Mother's Day mom hope you had a wonderful day. Then we went to go have
a noche hogar at a members house. So we went over there and her
daughter and her daughters boyfriend that claims to be atheist was
over there so we were able to talk to him and try to help him
understand that we truly have a divine father in heaven which went
fairly well and he accepted our invitation to take the lessons so that
was awesome! Well that was my super great week here in Cuenca I hope
every one else had a blast as well where ever you might be in the
world just remember d and c 31:3 whether you are a missionary or not
the hour of your mission is now so lift up your heart and rejoice and
declare glad tidings unto this generation.
Love , Elder Strong
