Monday: we decided to do a big district activity for pday because it was
one of the hermanas bdays so we all decided that it would be fun to go
bowling . So the bowling alley was actually in a pretty big mall so
that was cool. But the lanes where super run down and awful but I
think we all still had a great time. Then we all went to kfc for lunch
which was super great and then it was on to chapel to email always a
great part of the day. Then we had to rush back to the piso to change
then back to the chapel to make phone calls to set up appointments for
this week. Then back to the piso to plan tomorrow and then head to
bed.
Tuesday: today started off with an eating appointment at the mission
leader for our wards home which was really cool he is actually a
really great cook. We had rice with sautéed onions and peppers with
rice and potatoes wedges it was so good. Then after that we went to go
pass by C_ but there wasn't a man there so we just talked to her
for a little bit in the door and said we will try to bring a friend
next time then the sisters called us asking if we could help them with
a blessing so we went straight over. If I'm not here for anything else
I'm here to help administer blessings this has been the ninth or tenth
blessing we have helped administer so far. Then it was back to
contacting so like usual it was rejection after rejection. But then a
man from Mexico stopped to talk to us. So we introduced ourselves. And
then he told us that he's trying to learn more English so we spoke in
English for a bit and then he started to walk so quickly I mentioned
English classes and he said he would come on Friday and then asked if
we could call him and set up a time to talk with him about our beliefs
about God and Jesus Christ and he agreed that was so Great. All in all
it was a pretty great day.
Wednesday: last night we got a call from the aps saying that they were
going to come to our district meeting today which was really cool.
District meeting which went really well. First hermana Olsen gave a
spiritual thought on the power of the Holy Ghost in conversion, then we
talked about our investigators to get everyone else's input on how we
can best help them so we asked about how we can help our investigator
with their drinking problem and someone mentioned that a really cool
guy in our ward use to have the same problem and that he'd be willing
to help us In our lessons so that will be great. Then elder lords gave
a talk about the power of using the Book of Mormon in our lessons
which was really great. Then the assistants talked on the priesthood
which was super wonderful the spirit was so strong throughout all the
talks. Then me and elder Kirby were In Charge of the practice so we
set up a practice where by only using questions you would have to teach
about Joseph Smith and the first vision and Book of Mormon for five
minutes. We came up with this practice because it helps you focus only on
the Holy Ghost as you ask God sent questions. Then we went and picked
up lunch from a members house which were ribs rice and vegetables a
slice of cake and some peach juice. Then it was on to contacting for
the rest of the day but it was dia de los Reyes but for those of you
who don't know much Spanish it's the three kings day. That holiday is
actually a bigger holiday then Christmas here it's really weird
because no one really gets anything from Santa claus but in all the
malls where you would normally have Santa they have the three kings
and you go up and tell them what you want for a present.
Thursday: today we had lunch with the young men's president and he has
been organizing a soccer match for the youth and young adults so we
told president about it and he was li,e you guys should go and take
some of the young men you teach so we will probably be playing soccer
with A_, J_ and G_ on Saturday. Then we went to teach
C_ a less active woman and taught her about the importance of
preisthood and the sacrament. Then on the way home a man on the bus
came up and talked to us and started of by saying that, hey your the
Mormons right? And we were like yeah so then he said he just had one
question to ask you why did Joseph smith rewrite the bible? So then
we explained what the Book of Mormon was when he was like well where
does it talk about the Book of Mormon in the bible so I tried to
share with him in the bible in John 10:16 where it says other sheep I
have which our not of this fold they also must hear my word and then
he didn't even let me finish he was like does it say the Book of
Mormon or America and he was like unless it says one of those I can't
believe it. And then went on to say he wasn't here to fight with us
and then said Joseph Smith was a lier that God can't come down and
speak to us and many other things so we just listened very patiently
and then simply bore our testimonies about the Book of Mormon and
Joseph Smith and left him with that. So yeah good experience to have.
Friday:so let's see well today started of with going to get my
residency card finally! So we go to the place where we had to go to
pick it up I don't think I have seen a longer line in my entire life
lol but we managed to get through the line haha! Then back to piso for
lunch where we had hot dogs and a hello kitty cake! All of which was
pretty tasty. Then we had correlation which went really well then
afterwards we taught English class and I got every one to agree with
me that American English is better than my companions British English.
It was actually really fun we joke around with each other so much
after all you have to have a little fun. And then we had the noche
hogar which was way good we talked about charity being the true love
of Christ. Then we ran into one of elder kirbys comps parents so we
talked to them for a bit and then they took us to Burger King so that
was super great. We also contacted a little bit and I managed to talk
to this older lady who gave us her number and her address and said we
could come share our message with her next Saturday so that will be
super awesome!
Saturday: so today started off with some more contacting so of course
like normal it was a lot of nos but then we were almost to the end of
the street right as I saw this man turn the corner and start walking
our way. I just felt like I had to talk to him so I said hello we
introduced ourselves and then explained why we are here in Spain. Then
told him that we have a message about God and Jesus Christ. Right then
he asked if we could come back next week and tell him more and before
we could even ask for his number he gave it to us! Then it was on to
abuelitas house for lunch where we had soap de mani and then Stasi
which was really good. Afterwards we headed over to the chapel at four
when we were suppose to have a lesson but our investigator totally
forgot but he did say he was going to bring a friend to church. Then
we went and played soccer with the ward and investigators and yes we
got permission from president. So that was way fun other then one of
the ward members pulled his hamstring. Then back to the church to
change and have our lesson with M_ which was really good he said he
has really seen the difference in his life when he reads the Book of
Mormon so that was super awesome!
Sunday: today at church in sacrament the first speaker talked about
how they used the Book of Mormon and the importance of it in missionary
work. Then the next lady talked about charity and loving thy neighbor
which was great and then the last speaker talked about families. Well
that was when church finally got started. Spanish wards or at least
our ward isn't to good on starting on time we usually start about ten
minutes late. Then in gp we talked about the priesthood why we need it
and how it makes us different then any other church. Then in
priesthood we were talking about justice and mercy when one of the
guys said there can't be justice and mercy so every tried to atone for
our sins and through this there is justice and mercy but it just
turned in to a big argument and got so bad that some one said satan is
the spirit of contention now can we get back to the lesson and invite
the Holy Ghost back?. So church was good but interesting to say the
least today. Then later we had a lesson with our new investigator P_
from Mexico that speaks English. So he told us his life story and man
it's pretty crazy. It starts like this, he was working in Mexico
driving trailers when the drug mafia stopped him and said when your
trailer gets to about half empty bring it around the corner and give
us the keys. If not we are going to kill u and your family. So when
they said this he called his boss to come get the trail or every time
before it got that low. Then the mafia some how found out and came to
his house and beat him. Then some how he managed to escape with the
keys to his car and as he drove away they started shooting at him I
know that God spared his life and that he has been placed in our path
and that God has great things in store for him throughout his time on
this earth. So yep that was our Sunday and walking around in the
wonderful rain😃
